the ball was amazing , loads of cool supporters of a great charity ,and lots of volunteers envolved realy well organized and beautifully set up ,and great entertainment & food all lead to lots of money raised to help provide support to terminally ill kids and their famillies, long night though, had to give up wearing shoes coz my feet were killing me. the guests included sarah green and mike smith , linford christie, angela hartnet , gill (jean from eastenders) , and venessa feltz and her lovely partner, Faith brown , and mark ramprakash (excuse spelling) were also in the house and a late appearance after finishing the live dance show at striclty come dancing was put in by Christina , Erin and Austin heeley who is a patron for the charity.

survived the shoots.... lots and lots and lots of great kids , all in a rush mid gym session and all over excited and bubbling with enthusiasm. There are 4 images per child going onto the proof cards which in itself is a mammoth task, the lab has specially designed one where the payment goes directly to the club for me so the total tallying will be easier for them this year , and my figures wont look so bonkers as they did last year when i suddenly gave a big wodge of wedge back as commission. I think it came out at 3760 pictures that's 940 of the kids and i know i didn't see them all as there were important competitions on so the class slots over the weekend i was there had been shuffled and the squads were out competing , that's a donation of over 7 days work time , processing ,now i just have to see how much we raise through the sales of the images.
I feel good and the karma must be realy good now.

Rainbow Trust

volunteering services for charities,
first off the blocks...The Rainbow Trust.
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides practical and emotional support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness ,I went to rainbow house in surrey met a lovely family who were staying there and all the carers and house staff who were very welcoming and spent the day with them making images for the rainbow trust for their brochures and web site and i plan to go back again and do some more when needed,

Next up,Fund raising , Tolworth Gymnastics Club last year i made £1700 for the club and this year i aim to beat that...... its a big job with continuous gymnasts coming through for portrait pictures over 6 days,theres over 900 kids at the club so its a real challenge to avoid it turning into a conveyor belt as you still have to try and make a connection with each child which is a tall order, but very good for the people/studio skills !! so i am expecting to need to go for several serious nights out next week to recover.

new project, underwater portraits

not perfected yet but something im working on.. underwater kids portraits, spent the summer experimenting .My kids are now sick of me sitting on the bottom of the pool pointing cameras at them , and i am even more prune like than before. anyway needs more work but heres a couple of examples of where im going with this new idea, always on the look out for ideas to make even more interesting and memorable images so any feedback and ideas, as always most welcome.k.

Hampton Court Flower Show

currently drowning under a sea of orders but thats good, nearly summer now and with that hopefully some nice summer evenings to get the bbq going . Just finished all the kids portraits from montesauri house in thames ditton which is a realy lovely little school. The kids were great fun, and the parents loved the images which is a reminder of why im doing this in the first place.

on the non work fun side Im off to hampton Court flower show next week im going to go twice , once to play cameras and take some flower images and then again with my friends who wouldn't want to stand around while im fiddling with macro settings and meter readings and the likes so i think that will be more of a pims tent day!

I was lucky enough to be asked to produce some images for of one of the gardens sponsors (sadolin) and meet the design team so im looking forward to seeing their finished garden as the plans Helen the designer (shown here) was working on looked fantastic.

blooming cold on saturday but 3 members from kingston camera club offered our time to go down and shoot some pictures for the club , They are celebrating their 150th birthday this year, hope you like the shots guys

Tolworth Gymnastic Club

at the end of last year i was asked to help Tolworth gymnastics club with their fund raising
i spent a few days in the club with a portable studio with the children and took almost 3500 images
the images were then processed to proof books and a password protected web page and the sales of these images have so far generated nearly £1500 profits for the clubs funds
the money will be used to get new equipment for the children to use,

it was a lot of hard work but well worth the effort in the end,

Raising money for nurseries and kids groups

when im not doing portraits or weddings i like to get envolved with local schools and kids groups and we raise money for their funds through the sales of the childrens photographs this week i have been totting up the money raised from last terms sessions and delivering the funds we have raised by the sale of their nursery or club photographs,
The check book is getting a bit of a battering and im convinced the accountant is going to throttle me next year as i plan to ramp this activity up over the next few terms but im pleased to report that i have helped raised these local clubs and schools over £600 already ,
nice to give something back ...aswell as giving the parents great pictures.......no more borring schools mugshots!!!!!!

SWPP convention london

following advice from the amazing Marilyn Sholin American artist and photograher who i met yesterday at the swpp convention , i am taking a jump into the world of blogging,
